My first blog!
29 June 2010So since it's too late to start a session now I decided I might as well start this Blog! So I'll just fill everyone in first about who I am. I first played poker when I was 17 years old. It’s a late age to start I think but that was the first time the game was introduced to me. It clicked straight away. I played online bebo poker all the time and eventually moved to pokerstars when I was 18. Since I didn’t have a credit card I used my mothers and I lost my first €20 in an hour! Shocker! But hey, everyone loses at the start. I moved from Ireland to Glasgow Scotland where I study Aerospace Engineering in 2008. It was there that I began to realise “I just might have a talent here.” My poker highlight belongs to the first ever live tournament I won in a casino. Here’s a riddle for you. I woke up in Ireland and went to bed £900 pounds richer. How did I do it? I woke up with a pool of vomit on the ground absolutely dead from drink. My Mam was calling me and thank god for that because I broke my phone from vomiting on it so my alarm didn’t go off. Anyway, I made my flight and arrived in Glasgow on time. So there I was with my luggage absolutely hung-over in no state to do anything. Within an hour I was sitting down in the Mint Casino in the £33 Sunday freeze-out. There were 91 people in the tournament and after 8 hours of play I had won it! I had never known what it felt like to have so much cash it couldn’t fit in my wallet. It was a great feeling and made me want more! From that day I have taken my lucky number – 33! It’s so fitting since I’m Irish. My best result to date online has been my 6th place finish in the $3.3+ tourney at pokerstars where I won roughly $1500. That was over a year ago and I am long overdue a bigger payday. Recently, I have been very encouraged by my results and profits. From sit and go poker I made $1380 in a day and made $3500 in two weeks. That’s not to say it’s all in one direction. I lost a grand in 5 days straight after that great winning day but have regained it and a bit more after today’s profit of $450. So enough with the figures, they are still too small from where I want to get. Next year I will be going on a student exchange to the US and I am planning on going to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. I am going to keep plugging away. If I can keep consistent like I have been recently I will definitely have enough money to blow.
